Here is our new vlog from Kofu, Yamanashi Mitake Shosenkyo Gorge. Shosenkyo is known for its stunning rock formations and crystal-clear streams.

There are 3 bus stops from Kofu Station that you can use to hike or go directly to the top:

1. Shosenkyo Valley - “Shosenkyo Guchi”
2. The beginning of the gorge - “Greenline Shosenkyo”
3. The top near the falls - “Shosenkyo Taki Ue”

We started our hike from Nagatoro Bridge, near the “Shosenkyo Guchi” bus stop. The hike is about 4km and takes around 1 hour and 30min!

Kofu City, Yamanashi Prefecture, where our parent company, Lucky & Co., Ltd., is headquartered, has a rich history as a gemstone hub dating back about 1,000 years. This began when raw quartz crystals were discovered on Mt. Kinpu, deep within the Mitake Shosenkyo Gorge. The crystals discovered in the Shosenkyo area, along with the techniques developed to process them, evolved into the artistry that laid the foundation for Yamanashi’s leading jewelry industry. This expertise eventually led to the development of artificial crystal manufacturing methods.

The region is characterized by waterfalls of various sizes, massive stones, and uniquely shaped rocks, all sculpted by erosion over countless years. The rocks are named after many different animals or items like a mushroom or Fuji san.

Once you finish the hike and pass the Senga Falls you have several shops and restaurants.

You can continue your journey to the ropeway, which is a 5 minute journey to the top with amazing views of Mt Fuji. If you are brave we encourage you to hike to the Yasaburo-dake peak. Only a 15 minute walk extra! Enjoy a 360 view of Mt fuji and Kofu city!
