The Kabuto Ring: Strength and Heritage in One Design

Inspired by the spirit of the Samurai, we have designed a Kabuto Ring that symbolizes the power, honour, and craftsmanship that defined Japan’s legendary warriors.

Kabuto (兜) refers to the traditional Japanese helmet worn by samurai during battle. More than just protection, it represented courage, loyalty, and identity. Our Kabuto Ring carries this legacy forward in precious metal form. Each piece is made-to-order in our Kofu workshop, ensuring every detail is crafted by hand.

The emblem on the helmet and the crest marks on both sides are created in solid 18K gold, with the body in Silver .925finished with a special antique coating. This combination of silver and gold creates a refined contrast, highlighting the detailed craftsmanship that makes every Kabuto Ring unique.

The symbol engraved on both sides is Takeda Bishi (武田菱) — the family crest of Takeda Shingen, one of Japan’s most respected and strategic samurai lords from the Sengoku period (15th–16th century).

Takeda Shingen

The Takeda clan ruled from Kai Province, which is present-day Yamanashi Prefecture, where all L&Co jewelry continues to be handmade today. Their leader, Takeda Shingen (1521–1573), was known as the Tiger of Kai — a title earned through his fearless leadership, intelligence, and mastery of strategy.

Shingen was revered not only as a warrior, but as a ruler who valued justice, discipline, and loyalty. His rivalry with Uesugi Kenshin, the Dragon of Echigo, became one of the most legendary stories in samurai history — a tale of mutual respect and fierce competition that shaped Japan’s warring states era.

The Takeda Bishi crest, composed of four diamond shapes, symbolized unity, strength, and balance. It is also said to represent the four virtues of a wise ruler: wisdom, benevolence, courage, and trust. By featuring this crest on the Kabuto Ring, we honour the enduring spirit of the Takeda clan and the timeless values they stood for.

Craftsmanship and Customization

Each Kabuto Ring shows a reflection between traditional Japanese design and modern artistry. Every detail, from the curved form of the helmet to the gold accents on the crest, is carefully handcrafted in our Kofu workshop.

The ring comes presented in an original wooden box, making it not only a piece of jewelry, but a collector’s item — a piece of history you can wear.

You can also customize your Kabuto Ring in all silver, brass with gold coating, or other finishes upon request. Whether you wear it as a symbol of inner strength or as a connection to Japan’s storied past, each Kabuto Ring carries the legacy of the samurai into the present.
